Norton Family Newborn Day In The Life

This darling newborn day in the life shoot had my reminiscent of my own childhood as the third born daughter. Clara is so loved by her big sisters and has a life ahead of sweet sisterhood moments. I myself have three boys, but was raised with sisters. So it was so sweet being back in the world of ballet and princess dresses!

A day in the life session makes for the perfect lifestyle newborn shoot. My clients typically prefer to choose the two hour day in the life session. It gives plenty of time for baby to typically have some awake and asleep time. It gives time for intentional moments of connection together while also following babies pace and giving as many feeds, changes, and cuddles as needed.

For Clara’s newborn session we started in mom and dad’s cozy room and everyone took turns snuggling their precious new baby girl. The girls then requested their mama read Angelina Ballerina and they cozied all together as a family to listen and snuggle. This of course prompted the big girls to go searching for their tutus and daddy helped them put on their ballerina shoes.

Ballet music was requested and the girls put on a marvelous show while baby sister enjoyed milk and snuggles with mama. Then mama settled into the nursery for some solo cuddles with her brand new baby. The big girls soon joined. And me with my large pregnant belly at the time felt such joy and gratitude sweep over me as I thought of how beautiful is to welcome new life into the family and watch how siblings welcome in the new baby and everyone adjust to a new rhythm of life.

These days are sacred and gone all too quickly. If you’re soon to be in the newborn bubble, soak it all in. And don’t forget to have someone capture those vulnerable, beautiful, precious days so they can be passed on for generations to come.
